R&D

MESTRELAB RESEARCH is committed to the discovery, development and delivery of innovative software solutions for the chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries and research organizations.

To deliver on this commitment, Mestrelab counts with an exceptional staff. With a headcount of nearly 40, our people hold together 5 engineering degrees, 10 masters, 38 Bachelor’s degrees and 17 PhDs (As of November 2018. And yes, we know that there are more degrees than people as many of our employees have more than a degree!). We have plenty of chemists in our offices, but also IT engineers, mathematicians, physicists and many more. You can get to know them in Our Team page.

Whilst most of the R&D is carried out in-house, we are privileged to have collaborations with several companies and Universities. Our history started in the Chemistry Department at the University of Santiago de Compostela, USC, while our President, Dr. Carlos Cobas, was doing his thesis under the supervision of Professor Javier Sardina, also a founding member of Mestrelab. Since then, Mestrelab has kept working with the USC in many R&D projects.

In 2017 Mestrelab invested one million in R&D projects and around half our employees are certified as full-time researchers. We also receive funding from the following institutions:
